About CMN Hospital
CMN Hospital is a licensed full-service medical facility serving patients from around the world. While our values are deeply rooted in faith, CMN welcomes individuals from every background and belief system. We believe compassionate care extends beyond physical treatment alone, caring for the whole person in body, mind, and spirit.
For nearly four decades, CMN Hospital has combined advanced medical care with this compassionate approach, earning recognition both locally and internationally as a hospital patients and families have come to trust.
Dr. Edgar Payán has dedicated his career to compassionate, patient-centered medicine. Inspired by his mother’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and his father’s medical career, he pursued medicine with a deep sense of purpose. He studied at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) and The Mexican College of Emergency Medicine A.C., later expanding his training in integrative and alternative medicine.
As a pioneer in integrative oncology, Dr. Payán developed CMN Hospital’s four-week inpatient advanced cancer treatment program for patients seeking comprehensive care in a hospital setting. His vision has always been to bring together conventional and integrative therapies while addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient. Patients know him for his kindness, thoroughness, and commitment to treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Licensing & Hospital Standards
CMN Hospital is licensed through the Secretaría de Salud (Mexico’s Ministry of Health) and operates under ongoing oversight and compliance requirements established by both federal health authorities and the state of Sonora. The hospital maintains standards required for inpatient medical care, intensive care services, surgical procedures, emergency services, and obstetrics.
As a licensed hospital, CMN maintains qualified medical staffing that includes specialists in oncology, internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology, cardiology, emergency medicine, and inpatient care. These standards include physician oversight, inpatient care requirements, emergency preparedness, and continued regulatory compliance.
CMN Hospital also operates under the authority of COFEPRIS, Mexico’s federal health regulatory agency responsible for health and safety oversight. Hospitals that fail to maintain required standards may face penalties, suspension, or loss of licensure.
Community Recognition & Humanitarian Service
Beyond patient care, CMN Hospital has also been recognized for its longstanding commitment to humanitarian and community outreach efforts.
In July 1988, the Rotary Club of San Luis Río Colorado recognized the hospital for humanitarian contributions and support of cancer care accessibility within the community.
In April 2007, Dr. Raúl Héctor Payán helped establish the Sánchez Mejorda Home for the Elderly in Guadalajara, providing around-the-clock care and medical support for elderly residents in need.
In March 2012, CMN Hospital was recognized for collaboration with Integral Development of the Family (DIF San Luis) through fundraising, awareness efforts, and community medical outreach programs supporting local families.
The Lions Club of San Luis Río Colorado also honored Dr. Raúl Héctor Payán Villarreal for his longstanding dedication to humanitarian service and expanding access to integrative cancer care.
