Dr. Edgar Payan knew from a young age that he wanted to be a doctor. Growing up around his mother's battle with Parkinson's Disease and his father's medical career, he was inspired to pursue a path in medicine, driven by a commitment to compassionate care.

Education and Integrative Medicine

Dr. Payan studied at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) and The Mexican College of Emergency Medicine A.C., then furthered his education in alternative and integrative medicine. His vision combines the best of conventional and alternative therapies, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of healing.

Dr. Edgar Payán has dedicated his career to compassionate, patient-centered care. Inspired by his mother’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and his father’s medical career, he pursued medicine with a deep sense of purpose. He studied at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) and The Mexican College of Emergency Medicine A.C., later expanding his training in alternative and integrative medicine. His vision has been to bring together the best of conventional and holistic therapies, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient. As a pioneer in integrative and alternative oncology, Dr. Payán developed CMN Hospital’s four-week inpatient alternative cancer treatment program for patients worldwide. Patients know him for his kindness, thoroughness, and commitment to treating every person as part of the CMN Hospital family.

Licensing & Authority CMN Hospital is licensed through the Secretaría de Salud (Mexico’s Ministry of Health) and must comply with both federal health laws and state regulations in Sonora. These agencies have the authority to suspend or close any hospital that fails to meet the standards. CMN a registered hospital with an ICU, surgical capacity, obstetrics (delivering babies), and emergency services. These services cannot legally be offered without ongoing inspections and compliance.

Specialists & Standards To maintain its license, CMN must employ licensed specialists (oncologists, internists, cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, obstetricians, etc.) and meet staffing requirements for ICU, ER, and inpatient care. A hospital with only alternative treatments and no medical accountability could not operate at this level for decades.

Accountability If CMN Hospital were ever to fail in meeting patient safety standards, medical ethics, or legal requirements, the Secretaría de Salud (federal) or Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (COFEPRIS) — Mexico’s equivalent of the FDA — has the authority to step in, impose penalties, suspend operations, or revoke its license.

Founded by Dr. Raúl Héctor Payán, the Home for the Elderly provides a caring environment for elderly individuals who may not have family support. Located in Guadalajara, the facility houses over 50 residents with round-the-clock care, personalized support, and medical assistance.
