Dr. Edgar Payán, MD
General Hospital Director of CMN Hospital

Dr. Edgar Payán serves as General Hospital Director of CMN Hospital in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, Mexico. Founded in 1987 by his father, Dr. Raúl Héctor Payán García, CMN Hospital has continued serving both local and international patients through comprehensive inpatient medical care, emergency services, surgery, inpatient monitoring, and advanced cancer treatment programs.

Dr. Edgar Payán leads CMN Hospital’s 28-day Advanced Cancer Treatment program within a licensed, full-service hospital in San Luis Río Colorado, Mexico. Medicine has always been deeply personal for Dr. Payán. Influenced by his mother’s experience with Parkinson’s disease and raised within a family devoted to medicine and community service, he grew up witnessing firsthand the responsibility that comes with caring for patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

That commitment to professionalism, patient dignity, attentiveness, and comprehensive inpatient care continues today under his leadership at CMN Hospital.

Comprehensive Inpatient Cancer Care
Coordinated Hospital-Based Treatment

In 2007, Dr. Payán developed CMN Hospital’s Advanced Cancer Treatment program after years of studying integrative treatment approaches alongside conventional medicine. His inpatient program was created to provide individualized treatment planning, coordinated therapies, supportive care, and ongoing medical attention within one structured hospital environment.

Patients receiving treatment at CMN Hospital remain within the hospital throughout their stay while receiving coordinated therapies, inpatient nursing care, specialist involvement, pain management support, laboratory services, radiology, surgical support, anesthesiology, and continuity throughout treatment.

Rather than operating a large-volume program, Dr. Payán intentionally limits the number of inpatient cancer patients receiving treatment at one time so he can remain personally involved in each patient’s care throughout their stay.

Every patient arriving at CMN Hospital presents with a different diagnosis, medical history, treatment history, imaging, pathology findings, laboratory results, and overall condition. For that reason, treatment plans are developed individually after review of medical records, imaging, laboratory findings, pathology reports, and physical evaluation.

Individualized Patient Support

Patients and families often describe Dr. Payán as calm, attentive, grounded, and deeply involved in patient care throughout treatment. Many international patients continue monthly follow-up video calls with Dr. Payán after returning home, allowing patients and families to remain connected following their inpatient stay at CMN Hospital.

For many patients and families, these conversations provide reassurance, continuity, and continued personal connection long after treatment has ended.

Beyond Medicine

Outside the hospital, Dr. Payán values discipline, consistency, attentiveness, and personal responsibility. Alongside medicine, he has spent many years involved in martial arts instruction and mentorship, where patience, respect, focus, and protecting others remain central values both in training and daily life.

Patients at CMN Hospital also become familiar with Gigi, Dr. Payán’s therapy dog, who is often brought to the hospital to comfort patients who may be missing the familiarity of home during their stay with us.

The CMN Hospital Legacy

Today, CMN Hospital continues serving both local and international patients while remaining grounded in the same principles it was founded upon in 1987 — medical responsibility, patient dignity, compassionate care, professionalism, and commitment to the community.
