About CMN Hospital

Serving Patients & Community Since 1987

CMN Hospital is a licensed, full-service hospital located in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, Mexico. Founded in 1987 by Dr. Raúl Héctor Payán García, the hospital continues serving both the local community and international patients seeking coordinated inpatient medical care within a structured hospital environment. CMN Hospital is also home to Dr. Edgar Payán’s 28-day Advanced Cancer Treatment program.

Comprehensive Hospital-Based Care

CMN Hospital includes emergency services, ICU capability, surgical services, radiology, laboratory services, inpatient monitoring, anesthesiology, obstetrics, and physicians across multiple specialties working together under one roof. Located near the U.S. border, the hospital has become a trusted part of the regional medical community for patients and families seeking coordinated inpatient care.

Leadership & Vision

Dr. Edgar Payán, General Hospital Director of CMN Hospital, pursued medicine with a deep sense of purpose inspired by his mother’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and the medical legacy established by his father. He studied at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) and The Mexican College of Emergency Medicine A.C., later continuing additional medical study in supportive and integrative treatment approaches.

Advanced Cancer Treatment Program

In 2007, Dr. Payán developed CMN Hospital’s Advanced Cancer Treatment (ACT) Program, a limited inpatient program located within the hospital for patients seeking comprehensive care during treatment. The program intentionally maintains a limited number of inpatient suites so patients can receive individualized attention, continuity throughout treatment, and direct physician involvement during their stay.

Many patients arriving at CMN Hospital are facing advanced or complex medical conditions after months or years of coordinating appointments, travel, therapies, and treatment decisions. The private inpatient suites within the hospital provide an opportunity to rest, feel supported, and receive coordinated care in one location throughout treatment.

Licensing & Hospital Standards

CMN Hospital is licensed through the Secretaría de Salud (Mexico’s Ministry of Health) and operates under federal and state regulatory oversight within the State of Sonora. The hospital maintains licensing requirements for inpatient medical care, intensive care services, surgical procedures, emergency services, and obstetrics.

CMN Hospital also operates under the authority of COFEPRIS, Mexico’s federal health regulatory agency responsible for health and safety oversight.
